Wirewound Resistor
Wirewound Resistors can range from small surface-mount components to large, tubular (and even heat-sinkable) power resistors. They are typically used in high-current applications. Applications for Wirewound Resistors include current sensing, snubber circuits, dynamic braking, current and/or voltage balancing, and as a “bleed resistor”. Wirewound Resistors can have either a small or a large Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (TCR), and are also available in many tolerances and power levels.
