Dust Cap

A Dust Cap is one of the simplest RF coaxial interconnect devices. It is used mainly to protect RF connectors from dust particles and contaminants which can cause damage to Test and Measurement equipment or precision testing cables. They also protect the connector interface when it is not in use. Richardson RFPD carries a broad assortment of Dust Caps for all of the most common RF coaxial connector types (e.g., BNC, SMA). Body materials for these are typically stainless steel or brass. Plating materials can be nickel, passivated stainless steel, or gold. Performance grades range from low-cost commercial to rugged military. Specific attributes which are important in selecting the right Dust Cap for your application include the RF coaxial connector Type (or “Series”), the Gender (Male or Female), and whether theDust Cap comes with or without a chain attached. (A chain makes it more difficult to lose the Dust Cap).
