The PRM2136X comprises a highly integrated 60 GHz beamformer, transceiver and baseband compliant with the IEEE 802.11ad specifications. This platform provides a complete 802.11ad adapter solution.
The PRM2136X utilizes a phased array high-gain antenna, which is capable of beam steering in Azimuth and Elevation plane and supports operation in Horizontal and Vertical polarizations.
This module contains the PRS4601 baseband IC, and PRS1145 radio IC. These ICs provide all of the radio and baseband functionality necessary for 802.11ad operation. Physical connection to host is via USB 3.0 and 802.11ad wireless device drivers for Linux are provided.
Wireless products supporting the IEEE 802.11ad standard (WiGig) provide multi-gigabit data throughput over the 60GHz RF band. Peraso’s Versatus series modules incorporate advanced mmWave technology including dynamic beamforming and an integrated dual-polarization phased array antenna to deliver data throughput up to 3Gbps. Typical LOS/NLOS operation range is 10-30 meters. In addition to high data rates, 802.11ad systems offer very low latency and are not subject to interference or channel congestion experienced with Wi-Fi. These benefits make it ideal for demanding applications such as: Wireless UHD video cameras and displays, un-tethered AR/VR HMD connectivity, short range network bridging and industrial automation. This module incorporates a Hirose BM28 series, board-to-board connector for data, power and ground. Please see the associated product recommendations for the evaluation kit which includes USB adapter board and heat sink accessories.
